Mt 16:24-25 OOYLT
Then said Jesus to his disciples, `If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown himself,
and take up his cross, and follow me, for whoever may will to save his life, shall lose it, and
whoever may lose his life for my sake shall find it,
Phil 1:21 OOYLT
for to me to live is Christ, and to die gain.
Are you dead to self?
Have you surrendered everything to Jesus - your dreams, your goals, your relationships, your
physical lives, etc?
Are you willing to pay the ultimate price if an evil soldier says "renounce Christ or die"?
Are you so dead that the world given up tempting you?
Most Western-world Christians are not completely dead. The world can sway them - whether by good
food, good life, entertainment, and so on. They have yet to go through the dark nights of the soul
where they give up everything - their dreams, their goals, their relationships, their physical lives,
Heb 11:32 OOYLT
And what shall I yet say? for the time will fail me recounting about Gideon, Barak also, and Samson,
and Jephthah, David also, and Samuel, and the prophets, who through faith did subdue kingdoms,
wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire,
escaped the mouth of the sword, were made powerful out of infirmities, became strong in battle,
caused to give way camps of the aliens. Women received by a rising again their dead, and others were
tortured, not accepting the redemption, that a better rising again they might receive, and others of
mockings and scourgings did receive trial, and yet of bonds and imprisonment; they were stoned, they
were sawn asunder, they were tried; in the killing of the sword they died; they went about in
sheepskins, in goatskins -- being destitute, afflicted, injuriously treated, of whom the world was
not worthy; in deserts wandering, and in mountains, and in caves, and in the holes of the earth; and
these all, having been testified to through the faith, did not receive the promise, God for us
something better having provided, that apart from us they might not be made perfect.
Many OT saints paid heavy prices for walking with God. This is also true for NT saints - just see
Fox's Book of Martyrs.
Are you willing to suffer for Jesus? Are you willing to paid the ultimate price? Dark days are
coming (hopefully not soon) and persecution is likely to come to the Western world. Even now,
in Middle East countries, Christians are suffering and persecuted.
Gal 6:14 is the ultimate test. If you are truly dead to the world - do not care if you are
starving, persecuted, defamed, and broke - the world is not able to tempt you - then Gal 6:14 is a
living reality for you. If not, fully surrender all to Jesus and be willing to pay the price.
